Q:The split neck (as I'm sure you've heard already) is to reduce subspace wake cause by slipstream travel. The split neck acts sort of like a hydrofoil, allowing the ship to remain in slipstream for twice as long as it would be able to without.
Gotcha, thanks for letting me know.
Q:I know you're not a fan of some of STO'S designs, but how do you feel about the Odyssey?
Thanks for asking! Overall I like it pretty well, but I don’t think it flows gracefully from the lineage of the Enterprises before it.
Mostly it’s the “double neck”. I heard that there’s some rationale behind having the neck split, I don’t know what that is (please write in if you know), but I think that particular area of the Odyssey looks pretty unappealing, much less slick than the E.
What is your favorite STO ship design? Let us know!
